Suspected US fighter jets have carried out an overnight airstrike against Al-Shabaab stronghold in central Somalia, residents said on Wednesday.
The air raid took place near the coastal town of Harardhere, a main Al-Shabaab bastion in the central region of Mudug, which has been the scene of US airstrikes in the past few weeks.
It’s not clear the exact number of casualties as result of the aerial bombardment targeting Al-Shabaab base and local authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
There was no immediate confirmation which country belongs to the warplanes conducted the strike.
US military killed dozens of militants in the latest airstrikes in the region, according to US Africa Command, which oversees the counter-terrorism operations in the continent.
