A witness says at least one person was killed in a huge car bomb blast in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Monday morning.
The explosion has resulted from an improvised explosive device [IED] fitted into a vehicle said to be belonging to a member of Somali security force.
The incident took place at a busy junction in the capital’s Bondhere district, according to the eyewitness who spoke to Radio Shabelle over the phone.
The witness speaking on condition of anonymity said a child has lost his precious life in the blast, who was a nearby area at the time.
The security official who was traveling in the car has survived the blast, in what appeared to be an assassination attempt to take his life.
No group has claimed responsibility for the car bombing in the city, which was hit by car bombs and targeted assassinations since the start of the ongoing Holy Month of Ramadan.
