Heads of Somalia’s Federal States to meet in Baidoa city

The leaders of Somalia’s Federal Member States are expected to meet in the southern strategic city of Baidoa in the forthcoming hours.

The city’s security has been tightened ahead of the opening of a conference which brings together leaders of Galmudug, Southwest, Jubbaland, Hirshabelle and Puntland states.

The regional leaders who are united in the Inter-State Cooperation council will discuss the political situation of the country, humanitarian crisis as floods made thousands homeless.

The meeting comes amid a diplomatic spat between the Somali government and the United Arab Emirates [UAE] since Mogadishu decided to stay neutral on the Gulf crisis.
