Huge explosion heard in the heart of Mogadishu

A deafening explosion was heard on Monday morning in the heart of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, witnesses, and police said.

The blast which is said to be a car bomb happened near Jaalle Siyad military base in the capital, with reports that it was targeted a convoy carrying Italian troops.

At least five civilians, including a woman, were wounded in the attacks and admitted to hospital for primary medical treatment, according to police sources.

Al Shabaab, the Al Qaeda-linked militant group based in Somalia has claimed responsibility for today’s bomb attack in Mogadishu.
